Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) in London

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a non-invasive, holistic therapy that helps you to release emotional blockages and imbalances within your energy system. EFT is a kind of psychological acupressure, targeting your mental state in the same way acupressure focuses on your physical pressure points.

As with acupressure, EFT is premised on the idea that the body is made up of interconnecting energy channels. These energy flows are like rivers running through the body, providing the essential life force that sustains body, mind and soul. When these “energy rivers” become blocked, stagnant or unbalanced, your body can become flooded with a range of emotional and physical illnesses. The goal of EFT is to tap into the rivers of energy to rebalance, restore and revive your health and wellbeing.

What makes EFT unique is the belief that energy blockages emerge through emotional trauma and distress. So, to target physical problems, you must first attend to the root emotional ones. Using their fingers, an EFT therapist taps key points within the body and recites positive affirmations to boost your happiness and ease emotional imbalance.

What Are the Benefits of Emotional Freedom Technique?

In Emotional Freedom Technique, illness is believed to be rooted in negative emotions. All physical problems — such as headaches, joint pain, or chronic illnesses — are believed to be physical symptoms resulting from emotional problems. With this holistic approach, EFT heals the body through the mind by attending to emotional and physical energy held within the meridian points of the body.

By unblocking and rebalancing negative emotions through tapping and positive affirmations, EFT can help you to find the root causes of your physical and mental symptoms. Because EFT is safe and non-invasive, it can be used to help to heal and cure a range of root illnesses and ailments including:

  • Depression and low moods
  • Stress-related illnesses and anxiety
  • Addiction
  • Fear, phobias and panic attacks
  • Anger management
  • Trauma
  • Sleep deprivation and insomnia

By focusing on these root emotional causes, EFT can also help to heal a range of physical symptoms.

What to Expect from an EFT Session?

Emotional Freedom Technique begins with an initial consultation between you and your therapist. During this valuable time, your therapist will get to know you, your medical history, emotional issues, and lifestyle a little better. It’s important to be open and brave in this initial consultation as it will provide the therapist with the information they need to develop your therapy program.

Once the therapist has all the information about you they need, the therapy will begin. You will be instructed to lie down, relax and give yourself over to the healing experience. Using their fingertips, the therapist will use a tapping technique along the meridian points in your body to stimulate the energy within the body. The number of fingers used — and the direction, pace and pressure — will vary depending on your specific needs and goals. Your therapist will also instruct you to repeat positive affirmations to garner a sense of self-control, happiness and self-love.

The therapy doesn’t and shouldn’t hurt, but you may feel a surge of energy through your body and a deep sense of calm envelope you. Sessions last between 30-minutes to an hour and end with a brief moment to rest and reconnect with the newly stimulated energy.

The best part? Once you’ve gone to a few sessions, you can even practice tapping in your day-to-day life. The tapping points all exist along the top of the body:

  • Along the hairline
  • At the eyebrow
  • Around the side of the eye
  • Beneath the eye
  • Under the nose
  • Along the chin
  • Along the collarbone
  • Under the arms
  • The outer edges of your hand

So you can continue to reap the benefits of EFT whenever you want and wherever you are!
